Air Conditioning in Vélez-Málaga and across the province
We install, repair and maintain air conditioning units of all brands, for homes or businesses, calculating the right output for each space.
What's included
- Installation of units of all brands
- Maintenance and filter cleaning
- Fault repair and gas refills
- Air conditioning for homes and commercial premises
- Assessment of the output needed for the space
How we work, step by step
An air conditioner that is badly sized or badly installed uses more energy and performs worse. This is our process:
- Visit and heat load assessment. We measure the room and assess orientation, insulation, windows, occupancy and appliances to calculate the real output you need.
- Choosing the unit. We suggest inverter options with good seasonal efficiency and explain the differences in price and consumption.
- Positioning the units. We decide where the indoor unit goes (no direct airflow over the sofa or bed) and the outdoor unit (with access for maintenance and without bothering the neighbours).
- Installation. Brackets, insulated copper refrigerant line, condensate drain and an electrical line with its own protection.
- Vacuum and leak test. We check there are no leaks and pull a vacuum on the circuit before releasing the gas.
- Commissioning and handover. We measure pressures and temperatures, explain the remote and operating modes, and give you the paperwork and guarantee.
A standard split installation is completed in one day. Multi-splits and ducted systems need more days and a prior technical visit.
Regulations, materials and good practice
Air conditioning is regulated, mainly regarding refrigerant gases and electrics:
- RITE (Royal Decree 1027/2007): regulates thermal installations in buildings, with efficiency and safety criteria. For small domestic units it applies in a simplified way, but larger installations and commercial premises have more documentation requirements.
- Fluorinated gases (EU Regulation 2024/573): handling refrigerant gases must be done by personnel with the relevant certification, with leak control and record-keeping. Current units usually use R32, which is efficient but mildly flammable and requires careful installation.
- Electrical line (REBT): the unit must be fed from a circuit with its own breaker and RCD. In older homes the consumer unit may need extending.
- Owners' community: placing an outdoor unit on a façade, patio or roof may require authorisation under the community statutes and the Horizontal Property Law.
- Condensate and noise: many municipal by-laws prohibit draining condensate onto the public road and limit outdoor unit noise.
We install units of all brands. As a guide, sizing is not just about square metres: a sunny room with large windows or on a top floor may need considerably more output than a room of the same size on a ground floor.
What affects the price of your project
The cost of installing air conditioning depends on several factors:
- Output needed: calculated from area, orientation, insulation, windows and occupancy, not just surface area.
- Type of system: single-unit split, multi-split for several rooms or ducted for the whole home.
- Brand, efficiency and features: higher-efficiency inverter units or those with anti-corrosion treatment cost more but use less energy.
- Distance between units and installation difficulty: length of refrigerant line, height, access to the façade or roof.
- Additional work: false ceilings and grilles for ducted systems, concealed routing or extending the consumer unit.
- Condition of the electrical installation: a new circuit may be needed.
- Community permits: placing the outdoor unit may require authorisation.

Local challenges on the Costa del Sol and the Axarquía
The climate of the Costa del Sol and the Axarquía affects the choice and upkeep of the unit:
- Salt air. Within a kilometre of the sea, the outdoor unit corrodes sooner. We recommend units with anti-corrosion treatment on the heat exchanger and a freshwater rinse at least once a year.
- Extreme heat and the terral wind. In Málaga and along the coast there are summer days above 38 degrees. It is wise to size with some margin and not skimp on output in sunny rooms.
- Mild winters. With a heat pump, the same unit heats efficiently in winter, making it useful all year round in the Axarquía and the Costa Tropical.
- Dust and calima. Airborne dust and sand blown in from the Sahara clog filters sooner. We advise cleaning them more often than elsewhere.
- Buildings and façades. In community buildings, where outdoor units go is agreed under the statutes; on roofs and patios we study access for maintenance.
- Seasonal homes. If the flat is closed for months, a check before summer avoids finding a fault in the middle of August.
If the installation needs new lines or the consumer unit extended, our electricians take care of it. We install air conditioning in Vélez-Málaga, Torremolinos, Marbella and across the rest of the province.
Questions about air conditioning
How long does an air conditioning installation take?
A standard split installation is completed in a single day.
Do you do annual preventive maintenance?
Yes, we recommend an annual check to extend the life of the unit and keep it efficient.
What air conditioning output do I need?
It depends on the area, but also on orientation, insulation, windows and occupancy. As a guide, a room of around 20 to 25 m² usually works with a unit of about 2,500 to 3,000 frigorias (roughly 3 kW), although sunny rooms may need more. We calculate it at the visit.
How much does it cost to install a split air conditioner in Málaga?
It depends on the brand, output, distance between units and installation difficulty. Request a personalised quote, free and with no obligation: we give it to you fixed in writing after the visit.
Do I need the community's permission to place the outdoor unit?
If it goes on a façade, patio, roof or any shared element, normally yes, and there may be aesthetic rules. It is also worth checking the municipal by-law on condensate and noise. We advise you on placement options.
