Kitchen Renovations in Vélez-Málaga and across the province
We design and renovate your kitchen to measure: layout, units, worktop and appliances, adapting the electrical and plumbing installation as needed.
What's included
- Custom design and layout
- Removal of the old kitchen and rubble disposal
- Installation of units, worktop and appliances
- Adapting the electrical and plumbing installation
- Finishing touches
How we work, step by step
A well-renovated kitchen is decided before anything is demolished. This is our order of work:
- Visit and measurements. We note the position of sockets, drains, extraction and gas or electrical points, and how you use the kitchen: how much you cook, for how many people and which appliances you use.
- Design and layout. We propose a comfortable layout between the sink, cooking and storage areas, with heights and walking distances designed for daily use.
- Fixed quote. Works, services, units, worktop and finishing touches in separate items, so you can see what you are paying for.
- Stripping out and rubble. We remove the old kitchen and wall coverings, protecting shared areas and disposing of the waste.
- Services and building work. We renew or extend electrical circuits, water and drainage points, and leave walls and floor ready.
- Fitting units, worktop and appliances. The units go in first; the worktop is measured with them in place so it fits exactly. Then the sink, taps, extractor hood and appliances are installed.
- Finishing and handover. Adjusting doors and drawers, sealing, final clean and testing all the equipment.
As a guide, a complete kitchen usually takes between 2 and 4 weeks of work; a made-to-order worktop can add 1 or 2 weeks of manufacturing, which is why we measure for it as early as possible.
Regulations, materials and good practice
A kitchen combines water, electricity, heat and sometimes gas. These are the regulatory and technical points we take into account:
- Electrical installation (REBT, ITC-BT-25): the kitchen needs separate circuits for the oven and hob, for the washing machine and dishwasher, and for general sockets. In older homes the consumer unit often needs extending.
- Gas: gas installation and inspection must be carried out by an authorised gas installer, who issues the corresponding certificate. If you switch from a gas hob to induction, the gas supply must be decommissioned properly.
- Ventilation and extraction: the hood should vent outdoors whenever possible. If there is no duct, recirculating models with carbon filters are used, compensated by natural ventilation.
- Partition walls: before opening the kitchen to the living room we check whether the wall is load-bearing or carries services. If in doubt, a technician is consulted before anything is touched.
For materials, units are made with moisture-resistant board and soft-close hardware; worktops can be laminate, compact quartz, porcelain or granite, with very different prices and upkeep. Quartz and porcelain are cut with water to control silica dust.
What affects the price of your project
The cost of a kitchen depends mainly on these factors:
- Size and layout: the size of the kitchen and whether the position of the sink, hob and extraction changes.
- Units and worktop: the item that varies most: type of board, hardware and worktop material (laminate, quartz, porcelain, granite).
- Appliances: quoted separately, or you can supply your own.
- Condition of existing services: whether the consumer unit, pipes or extraction need renewing or extending.
- Building work required: tiling, flooring, removing partition walls or opening up to the living room.
- Gas: installation changes that must be carried out by an authorised installer.
- Permits and community: municipal permits if the work requires them and notice to the community.

Local challenges on the Costa del Sol and the Axarquía
A kitchen in a coastal home has its own constraints:
- Damp and salt air. Near the sea, cheap hardware rusts sooner. We recommend quality hinges and runners, and moisture-resistant board around the sink.
- Summer heat. A poorly ventilated kitchen turns into an oven. We plan the extraction and, where the design allows, the position relative to windows and air conditioning, which we also install: see our air conditioning page.
- Old installations. In buildings from the 1970s and 1980s, minimal electrical installations and iron or lead pipes are common. Using the renovation to replace them prevents later failures. Tell us what you see on our electrical or plumbing pages.
- Small kitchens in flats. We make use of height with full-height units, appliance columns and shallow worktops. You will find more ideas in our small kitchen guide.
- Delivery times. Made-to-order units and worktops take weeks. If the home is seasonal, it is best to start out of high season so it is ready when you need it.
We renovate kitchens in Vélez-Málaga, Marbella, Fuengirola and across the rest of the province.
Questions about kitchen renovations
Can I keep using the kitchen during the works?
Not during demolition and installation, but we try to keep the days without a kitchen to a minimum.
Do you include the appliances?
We can arrange the purchase and installation if you need it, or install the ones you already have.
How long does a full kitchen renovation take?
It depends on the scope, but as a guide it usually takes a few weeks of work, plus the manufacturing time of a made-to-order worktop. We set it out in the quote with a schedule.
How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Málaga?
It depends mostly on the units and worktop chosen, the state of the services and the building work needed. Request a personalised quote, free and with no obligation: we visit the property and give you a fixed written quote.
Can the kitchen be opened up to the living room?
Often yes, but we first need to check whether the wall is load-bearing or carries services, and in community buildings verify that it does not affect shared elements. We review it at the visit and explain the options.
